Blockbuster-Style Movie Rental & Purchase Store
I’ve been thinking about how many great movie nights and roleplay moments I’ve missed because there’s no easy way to take the films from the Bloxburg Theater home with me. Inspired by the fantastic Vinyl Records update that added so much realism and collectibility even though you can add just a decal , I’d love to suggest a Movie Rental & Purchase Store (classic Blockbuster vibes).
Main Features:

  • Physical Movie Store players can build or visit in the city (perfect for the shopping district, maybe near the existing Theater).
  • Players can buy movies permanently or rent them for a limited time.
  • Rental System:
    • Rent a movie for a set number of in-game days/hours.
    • If not returned on time, late fees start applying and keep growing if unpaid — opening up fun debt collection roleplay.
  • Wear & Tear Mechanic:
    • Movies degrade with repeated plays (like tools/items in the game).
    • Overuse can cause the disc to break or become unwatchable, so players must buy replacements or repair them.
  • Bonuses & Collectibility:
    • Watching movies at home (using projectors or TVs) gives an extra fun XP bonus.
    • Players can collect physical copies and proudly display them on shelves or in home entertainment centers, making houses feel way more lived-in.
  • Movie Selection:
    • Start with all the great community short films currently playing at the Bloxburg Theater
    • Add new releases with updates, different genres, rare/limited editions, and even player-submitted or themed collections.
    • This feature would build directly on the existing Movie Theater, giving players a reason to rewatch and collect those wonderful community films while adding tons of immersion and realism — just like the vinyl records did. It creates new jobs (working at the rental store), fresh roleplay opportunities, better home decoration options, and meaningful ways to spend money. Imagine walking into the store, browsing the shelves filled with theater movies, renting the latest one with friends, and having to remember to return it before the late fees pile up.
