Realistic NPC Traffic System with Dynamic Vehicle Behavior
Dynamic NPC Traffic System
I think Bloxburg would feel much more fun if the town had realistic NPC traffic instead of mostly empty roads. The goal is to make bloxburg feel like a living city.
Vehicle Types
NPCs could drive a variety of everyday civilian vehicles, such as:
- Sedans
- SUVs
- Pickup trucks
- Hatchbacks
- Sports cars
Each vehicle would randomly spawn, drive to a destination, and eventually despawn to keep performance fine.
Realistic Driving
NPC drivers should:
- Stay in their lane.
- Stop at red lights and stop signs.
- Use turn signals before turning.
- Slow down around corners.
- Yield to pedestrians.
- Follow speed limits depending on the road.
Rush Hour
Traffic could change throughout the day:
- Morning (busy commute).
- Afternoon (lighter traffic).
- Evening (another rush hour).
- Late night (very few vehicles).
This would make different times of day feel unique and realistic.
Variety
Traffic should never feel repetitive. NPCs could:
- Drive different routes each day.
- Use different vehicle colors.
- Occasionally park in parking lots.
- Pull into residential neighborhoods or businesses before continuing their journey.
Performance
To avoid lag:
- Traffic only spawns near active players.
- The number of vehicles scales based on the number of players in the server.
- Cars despawn once they are far away.
- Simplified AI is used when players aren't nearby.
Benefits
- Makes Bloxburg feel like a real, active town.
- Improves experince while driving.
- Gives roads, intersections, traffic lights, and parking lots more purpose.
- Makes exploring the map much more enjoyable.
- Creates a more alive world without changing the gameplay.
Overall, a NPC traffic system would make Bloxburg feel far more alive and realistic while still keeping the game working and enjoyable for everyone.
