Introduce a Dedicated Ranked Playlist for Takedown Mode

Hey Splitgate team, I wanted to share a thought that I and a lot of other Takedown fans have been kicking around: it’s time for a Takedown-only ranked playlist. Takedown is arguably the most competitive and high-skill mode Splitgate has to offer. It combines clutch 5v5 strategy, portal mastery, and intense fast-paced decision-making in a way that no other mode does. But right now, fans of this mode don’t have a dedicated space to grind, improve, and climb the ranks, which feels like a missed opportunity for the competitive scene and the game as a whole. Here’s why I believe Takedown deserves its own ranked mode: 1. It rewards true mechanical and tactical skill. Takedown forces tight coordination, movement efficiency, team comms, and portal usage. There’s no hiding behind casual chaos or big team randomness. It’s pure skill-based elimination, and it brings out the best players in the community. 2. Casual players avoid it, so it gets buried. Because it’s lumped into ranked rotations or customs, newer players tend to avoid it, which discourages regular matchmaking. If it had its own ranked path, it would attract people who want that high-intensity 5v5 experience. 3. It’s built for esports and streaming. Takedown is arguably the most watchable mode. It’s short, intense, and strategic, perfect for tournaments and creator content. A ranked ladder would generate competitive storylines, rivalries, and grind-based content, especially from players trying to break into the top tier. 4. It serves a different player mindset. Not everyone who plays ranked wants objective-based modes or huge team games. Takedown scratches that itch, a space that Splitgate could own with the right support. A separate Takedown ladder respects and elevates that distinct player base. 5. It encourages more long-term engagement. Adding a Takedown-only ranked playlist gives players another reason to log in consistently. It broadens the ranked ecosystem and gives high-skill players a new mountain to climb. You’d likely see returning veterans and newcomers commit more hours, especially with unique rewards tied to the mode. 6. It fits the DNA of Splitgate. Splitgate’s identity is built on clever movement, portal gunplay, and clutch plays, all of which shine in Takedown. It’s arguably the most Splitgate mode of all, and giving it ranked status would show the devs recognize that uniqueness. If balancing queues is a concern, you could: 1. Start with time-gated ranked Takedown events/seasons 2. Use it in rotational ladders (like RL’s extra modes) 3. Require party queue (3-5stack only) 4. Run tests to measure retention and queue health There’s a passionate and sweaty community that wants to take this mode seriously. And I think you’d be surprised how much energy it would bring back to ranked in general. Thanks for hearing me out, hope this idea resonates, and I’d love to help however I can if you ever want. Team GLUCK would 100% grind it 🤘
