Controller Player Item Pickup: Instant Tap Option

Currently in BR, controller players have to hold X (or whatever the bind may be) to pick items up. When using a keyboard, you only have to press a key to instantly pick it up. Can we expect to see parity between the two? As a controller player, I'd like to be able to just tap X and pick whatever I'm looking at up. If it's an intention design decision, maybe a setting to adjust the behavior.
