Enhance Radio Voice Integration with Realistic Channel Naming and Sound Effects

Just wanted to note I don't exactly work for Dispatch but work in Emergency Management, but I work with radios frequently and do "dispatching" work whenever something major arises and handle a few channels. I have a couple of suggestions on things like the radio voice integration.

  1. Channel Name Changes The current channel names don't make very much sense (if you're trying to be LA spec at least), and 90% of the time everyone uses the main channel, which makes it ALWAYS tied up. I wanted to suggest adding new channels and changing them around, mostly based in the LA area;

Primary / Dispatch;
Hawthorne Dispatch 9 (Fire/Police/EMS) [HAWTHORNE DISPATCH 9] 769.48125
Florence Dispatch 1 (Fire/Police/EMS) [FLORENCE DISPATCH 1] 506.7375

Secondary / Fallback;
Florence Tactical 35 (Interop) [FLORENCE TAC 35] 507.1125
Hawthorne Tactical 39 (Interop) [HAWTHORNE TAC 39] 506.8125
Hayward Tactical 43 (Interop) [HAYWARD TAC 43] 507.0875

Law Enforcement Only;
Hayward Detectives 55 (Police Tac) [HAYWARD DETECTIVES 55] 506.6125 (pretty optional)
Hayward Traffic 24 (Police Tac) [HAYWARD TRAFFIC 24] 484.8125
Hayward SWAT/Metro 66 (Police Tac) [HAYWARD SWAT/METRO 66] 484.5875

Fire Department / Ventura Health Only;
Hayward Fire/EMS Tactical 12 (Fire/EMS Tac) [HAYWARD FIRE EMS TAC 12] 860.4375
Hayward Fire/EMS Tactical 13 (Fire/EMS Tac) [HAYWARD FIRE EMS TAC 13] 856.4375

Transit Only;
Florence Transit Ch 1 (Transit) [HAYWARD TRANSIT 1] 160.695
Florence Transit Ch 2 (Transit) [HAYWARD TRANSIT 2] 160.7625

Security;
Vix Universal Ch 1 (Security) [VIX UNIVERSAL 1] 451.2468
Vix Universal Ch 2 (Security) [VIX UNIVERSAL 2] 454.2875

Okay sorry for that yap but I also think it's important (especially if you're doing voice chat radio) to have the right sounds and effects. Most of the Los angels area is on UHF P25 Channels which have some sort of modulation sounds. You'd have to find a way to make voices sound sort of robotic yet clear? I wouldn't want to just hear people talk like they're next to me. On top of that you'd need hotkey sound effects (so whenever people talk you wanna hear that PTT sound)

Here's a link of sounds for those radios (you can use them or not it doesn't really matter);

Talk Permit 1 http://www.w2sjw.com/sounds/SmartConnect_TPT.mp3
Talk Permit 2 http://www.w2sjw.com/sounds/Moto%20Talk%20Permit.mp3
Talk Denied http://www.w2sjw.com/sounds/APX_Denied.mp3
Emergency http://www.w2sjw.com/sounds/APX_Evac.mp3

When someone is speaking you'd also have to somehow make it so that other people can't talk over you and get that talk denied sound.

The whole out-of-range thing is also somewhat doable. Throw up like four or five "towers" in the cities that players have to be somewhat near to transmit. And if you're away, you could sound sort of defunct and have a weird cutting in and out voice-wise. LAPD and the LASD (for the most part) refuse to use earpieces and external microphones (the sheriffs are an exception to this) and use their handhelds up to the face when speaking. It would be pretty neat if players could HEAR the police radio talking when they're near a cop. Radio scanners would also be a good addition (at least allow civilians to scan the two main channels) since most of LA is in the clear channel-wise.
