be careful what you wish for - if you have wearable food they can not be compostable/recyclable. You can have one or the other because of a security exploit when wearing an item.

Understandable! Security always comes first.
To be honest, I think even those being buyable from the store, instead of home-made, could be a viable option.
It could also potentially work as the third category for use, i.e.: ingredient/produce/snack, but I imagine that would be too much work.
