Implement Marketing Strategies for Improved Player Retention and Engagement
I have decades of Marketing experience and when I send things in it is not because I'm being difficult, I'm trying to offer feedback for your marketing and game development. Why, because I'm retired and bored as I can be, I have always been a gamer and have studied the habits of people who often play certain games. When the game slows down, I start submitting reviews.
I don't know what age and/or economic status you are trying to target to participate in games, but some things are the same for all groups.
- Know your gamers like characteristics. What does it seem they are trying to achieve, if anything.
- Age of gamers, the most important question of all. If you are hoping for long-term gamers, consider the age of your players. Each group will have different levels of patience and be willing to stay while issues are worked out when they arise.
- Time to achieve goals, the longer it takes the more frustrated people get and leave, personally, I can't keep friends playing on this game due to time frustration and feeling goals are impossible to reach.
- Ensuring your gamers understand certain advantages by experiencing them briefly without pay so they can determine if they want to pay to keep using those advantages.
- You can determine an approximate income from games if you pay attention to profiles of players who are willing to pay for convenience. Don't assume you will hold on to that age group if they feel defeated continually.
- Don't invade privacy, but you can ask people to do surveys for rewards. They won't do it most times just to assist you with marketing but will for rewards.
- Don't get so bogged down with too many games, try to build upon one or two of them and then track length of playtime, money spent, are players interested in multiple games or just one. Important for developers.
- Work smarter, not harder, keep some of the players you have while also getting new players.
