That way, players immediately know it’s a scheduled maintenance, not a server crash — and it prevents panic or confusion.

Additionally, I recommend implementing a forced logout mechanism during maintenance:

• Before forcing logout, display a notice informing players that maintenance is about to begin.
• Encourage players to log out safely, since progress might not be saved properly during maintenance.
• Once maintenance starts, prevent players from continuing the game until it’s completed.

This kind of system is common in MMORPGs — for example, Toram Online handles maintenance this way. They also provide compensation when maintenance extends beyond schedule, which helps maintain player trust.
