Weaponry organization rework - Part two of two
Open
THIS IS PART TWO OF A TWO PART SUGGESTION. Please see suggestion 501 for the first part.
Alright. With my first point addressed, here’s the second: the small selection of personal-defense gadgetry options. Yes, we have healing, but almost every other “defensive” option is merely route or area denial. Which is why I’m suggesting these gadget options, starting with revolters:
The personal shield. No, not a riot shield, but a ground-deployable cover capable of hiding one or two crouching players. If there is sufficient room, one would deploy it onto the floor, where it would fully assemble in a timeframe similar to the spring mine’s burial. Make it have reasonable hit-points, say 1.5 times the health of a door blocker. The price should also be high, justification being that it removes reliance on natural cover. Although, I will say, constraints will need to be added so as to prevent camping-heavy playstyles (though this shouldn’t be too hard; just parameters for minimum distance from walls and doors to the shield (if you’re curious what I mean, feel free to ask and I’ll elaborate)).
Now, enforcers need a way to counter this. That need would be met by the pulse grenade, a throwable which reveals hostiles’ locations (and potentially even gadgetry, depending upon how powerful you want to make it) within a short distance. Perhaps make it a 2-for-1 deal like the flashbangs, priced the same as well. When thrown and detonated, it pings all hostiles within a 3-5 meter radius, also letting them know that they’ve been detected (think: the drone). So, yes, while those pesky revolters can hide wherever they want, you can at least be aware of where they are for the moment, and plan accordingly.
Now, that is pretty much everything. One last thing to say is that one-handing assault rifles and shotguns just to blind fire around corners or above cover seems unrealistic, and I think that this should be reevaluated (like how you MUST use two hands to fire launchers in Forefront). But, finally, I am done. Suggestion over. Please let me know what you think, and I hope you find these ideas to be as good as I think they are!
