Introduce Visual Map Variants to Reduce Repetitiveness in Map Voting
Map voting is too repetitive & i have an interesting solution; Here's my reasoning for why Forefront needs visual map variants, not just because "rain = cool"
add map variants separate from the Field Tests which change how the map looks/feels to play rather than simply changing which vehicles and equipment are available in the battlefield through adding preset visual variants for different maps that deserve them.
for example, Iceland could have a rainy variant where the sky is a slightly darker gray & there are simple rain particles falling from the sky, perhaps with some very minimal ambient noise
Clearwater could have a cloudy variant that simply changes the sunny vibes to be slightly moodier.
entirely dynamic weather systems wouldn't really fit forefront, but i feel like some variety within the same maps is achievable in a minimal way, such as a skybox swap + lighting adjustments.
personally, fjord is my favorite map visually, but i rarely get to experience it due to it not getting through map votes nearly as much as maps like Paradise, Iceland & Tunnels. my point being, map visuals matter, lack of repetition also matters, i would feel less bad about playing the same maps over & over if they were not literally the same each time.
now stick with me a little longer, with the amount of maps currently in the game you typically see the same few, including the community favs which almost always get voted for, but what if the visual variant was shown as part of the voting option?
suddenly players aren’t simply choosing “Paradise again.” maybe it’s a variant of Paradise they don’t like as much as regular Iceland, rainy Iceland or cloudy Clearwater. the map’s atmosphere becomes another factor in the decision, giving room for actual variety between matches & keeping lobbies feeling fresh.
the only real thing that makes me log off forefront in the end is feeling like i've done too much or "seen enough" of the same in one session.
VARIETY IS NEEDED
