Make it possible to choose a pistol also as the primary weapon, so that you could dual wield pistols. Meaning you could use two pistols at the same time, one in each hand. This would work well in VR, as its possible to aim at two separate targets at the same time, unlike in flat games.

This would leave you without the primary weapon, but offer some interesting gameplay possibilities. And could be a rewarding skill to master.

This could also be implemented as some sort of pistol mastery reward, and limited to specific pistols to not be too OP at close range. If its even needed, as we already have one shot kill weapons like shotguns & sniper rifles.
