Adjust Weapon Spread for Better Long-Range Precision and Close-Range Effectiveness
The game is great, but I have one major issue with the weapon balance.
The Requiem needs either reduced random spread when firing without scoping or no random spread at all.
Or you guys increased spread on the Assault Rifle.
Alternatively a new long range weapon could be introduced like the railgun from quake 3.
Right now, the Assault Rifle is simply too effective at long range, due to the fact that the maps arent that big anyway. It consistently outperforms the Requiem, even though the Requiem is supposed to fill the precision weapon role.
At close range, the Assault Rifle understandably has the advantage, but the Requiem is already naturally balanced by its slower rate of fire. Missing a shot is heavily punished because of the delay before you can fire again.
Landing body shots against opponents who are constantly jumping and strafing is already difficult, and one-shot kills are only possible with headshots. On top of that, scoping at close range takes too long, making the weapon feel unnecessarily inconsistent.
As a result, it’s almost impossible to use the Requiem effectively at close range unless you’re practically point-blank.
I think the Requiem should have a much higher skill ceiling. Players who master the weapon should be able to use it effectively at close range as well, with success depending on precision and timing—not random spread.
Otherwise the weapon makes almost no sense, because the carabine works well close range and long range, due to the fact that the maps arent that big as mentioned before.
