Rename 'Capture The Mech' to 'Deliver The Mech' for Improved Gameplay Clarity
Would changing the theme of the game mode "Capture The Mech" into "Deliver The Mech" be a good idea?
So, for beginners, which is everyone in the playtest. The "objective" and the gameplay flow of CTM feels confusing.
The basics are easy to understand, it's just CTF with Mechs being the flag. But in actual gameplay, the emergent play pattern... feels confusing.
As in, for your team, the "objective mech" is the enemy mech. This is "your teams objective" and you should play around it and protect it. Meanwhile, your mech is a nuisance, a obstacle to get rid off. You want it destroyed most of the time.
So, this creates an annoying feeling, that the mech that your team is piloting, protecting, using as a tank to create space, is called "enemy mech". Meanwhile, "your mech" is the enemy payload, which you need to destroy.
And one of the highlights of this game mode, is the big mech team fights. Each team trying to protect their "objective mech", while destroying the mech that the enemy team is piloting.
I think reversing the narrative of the game mode would make things much more understandable. So instead, it's your team needing to push your mech into the enemy base, and maybe nuke eject, to blow up and deal damage to their mech production facility.
Gameplay change wise, the only big change is that, each team would spawn near your "objective mech". So the first "rush to capture" is essentially skipped. Not sure how much will this impact the gameplay experience.
