Extend Discount Window During Major Events for Better Player Acquisition

Feedback shouldn't be just about feature suggestions. I want to give a different type of feedback: Ending the first major sale halfway through the biggest seasonal Steam event was a missed opportunity that a game struggling to build a player base could not really afford. My friends, as well as many other players, were planning to buy the game during the Steam Summer Sale, but the discount for Empulse ended abruptly in the middle of it. Considering that Steam allows standard game discounts to run for up to 14 days, and you ended your sale after only 7 days, this was nothing more than a bad marketing decision.

The game desperately needs more players and better marketing, and the initial release sale is one of the most important opportunities to achieve that. Players are more likely to invest in a multiplayer game when there is a strong influx of new players, rather than waiting until the existing player base consists primarily of veteran players. Ideally, the game would actually be free-to-play, but since you've decided to make it a paid game, the pricing and discount strategy needs to be handled much more carefully.

There is also very little exposure from large streamers or other major creators. Fast forward a month and a half later, and the game now has fewer than 400 concurrent players. Most of the potential players who were interested in buying it during the Summer Sale but couldn't because the discount had already ended, have either lost interest or moved on entirely. Those are exactly the players you needed to attract while the game still had the momentum and visibility of its release.

Going forward, you need to be much smarter about your discount windows and marketing strategy. Decisions like these are extremely important for the longevity of the game, potentially just as important as the gameplay itself, if not even more. A multiplayer game can have excellent gameplay, but without a sufficiently large and consistently growing player base, it will ultimately struggle to survive.

Please take this feedback seriously and take steps to address these issues. Thank you.
