Increase ISO Drop Rate for Easier Bio Engineering
ISOs drop rate seems to be VERY low. on average I'll get 1, maybe 2, every other terminal mission, while looting some sort of creature body part from almost every mob. Is it possible to swap those drop rates, or increase the likelihood of an ISO to drop? I understand that a lot of people don't want to see them drop, however isn't there already a toggle to turn them off for loot? For those of us trying to do Bio Engineering, the low drop rate makes is very difficult to collect enough to get going, because you need specific colors and if you want to do a mutation, the higher the percent, the better chance you have of that happening. When you're getting so few, the odds of getting ones good enough to keep is very low, makes it an even bigger challenge
I've looked at this before when creating the toggle to disable these drops. The drop rate is already high and can actually be overwhelming to the point that one can fill their inventory with these. It can also push down all other loot drops.
Even when disabling a type of loot drop, we don't increase the chances of other loot to drop, by design. We simply just don't award that type of drop when it comes up, keeping the loot drop rates intact.
For now I'm going to keep the drop rates as is.
No problem. It feels like the drop rates are WAY lower than what I'm used to on other servers, though. I'm definitely not filling my bags with them. It feels like I get a lot of everything else (I get a lot of weapons and organs).
I've been farming creatures for almost my entire tenure here (used mission terminals to level all of my combat toons) and I didn't delete many ISO's compared to what I would expect, and I don't even have a full bag of good enough ISO's yet (I've been keeping anything 85% and up, even though you're only supposed to keep 88.33% and up) . I'm still grinding for the truffle pig collections, and I'll do a better job tracking and post screenshots to show how it's really going.
Maybe it's a per character thing? Brienne and I have been doing foraging experimenting, and her ranger has 490 luck, and mine has about 900 during our testing, and I've done about 10 hours of foraging and have received 0 RLS boxes and she gets 7 - 9 per hour. So it seems to disprove that luck is effecting RLS boxes.
Just wanted to do a quick follow up, and show that the drop rates of ISO's aren't as high as people may think. I did an experiment of 3 bag fills to see how many ISO's I'm actually getting. I grabbed any creature missions and took out any creature nest on the way, on Dantooine. I wasn't looking at quality, just quantity. It took me about 90min each bag fill. I'm Sure someone not farming for creature collections can go faster.
Attached are the screenshots of the bags, and a quick table showing the results. I did not count the create collections, the harvest resources, the bugs from searching nest or broken holocron fragments (mainly because I forgot to remove them from my bags).
TL:DR - Visually, the ISO's look like it's about 40-50% of the bags, however you loot so many organs that stack, that it is really only 16% of your inventory from the looting of creatures.
Instead of changing the loot drops, would it be possible to include an extra loot roll in the talent box DNA Harvesting, in the Beast Mastery expertise? The primary purpose of ISO's is to create creatures with Bio Engineering, and the amount that is currently dropping makes the collection of resources EXTREMELY slow, and cumbersome. The difference between all other traders and Bio Engineers is that you need specific quality and color of ISO's (and Lyase) which in all reality because a numbers game, and the more you loot, the higher chance you'll actually be able to use. Every other trader can figure out what resource they want to use and just go get it, including purchasing resource kits from the token vendor.
