Enter Atmospheric Flight After Planetary Descent in Space

With Atmospheric flight enabled, it would be cool if the ship could fly into the planet and be asked to enter atomospheric flight.

Sadly, this isn't currently possible, at least in the sense of flying towards a planet. And where would you pop out on the planet? Random locations?
I'm going to decline it for now as I just don't have a clue on how to even solve this.
