Explanation

I only open crates in groups of 5 or 10 but it shows as 9 sometimes. I thought it was my mistake but now I found that some of the tasks show as less than the ones I opened

This problem continues. On Dec 21, I completed "open 420 supplies" and graphic showed 405/525 for next challenge. Also, earlier I needed 16 harvests to complete a challange, harvested 10 and still needed 16. However the next 5 were credited properly.
