Explanation

I had enough ornaments for the 2nd big christmas present but never wanted to claim it due to lack of mindset that I could get the key to open it before the event ended. I loaded in today and the game forced the present to drop onto my farm, no more ornaments so I really can't get the key now to open it. It won't let me use the shovel to remove it from my farm so I am stuck having to wait the 48 hours while that present eats my precious real estate.
