Steps to Reproduce
- Try joining several multiplayer lobbies that have not yet started the mission (mission time should say "N/A"). The goal is to catch one just as they are starting.
- Alternatively, have a friend host a lobby, and try to join their lobby at different times while they are inside or about to enter their drop pod to start the mission.
Explanation
When joining a multiplayer Space Rig that is about to start the mission, the join behavior is inconsistent.
Sometimes the character selection screen appears for a brief moment but then closes, revealing that you are in a Personal Cabin, as the drop pod leaves. This makes it difficult to select a character or loadout.
Sometimes, the space rig and HUD all vanish, leaving just the solar system skybox. The mouse sensitivity is extremely high in this state, for some reason.
Sometimes there is no character select screen at all, and you go directly into the loading cinematic (showing the Drop Pod flying to Hoxxes). You eventually spawn in the descending Drop Pod with whatever character and loadout you used last.
Sometimes you get booted back to your own Space Rig with the message "You cannot join while the mission is starting". I suspect this is the intended behavior, but it does not always happen.
