Black Screen After Exiting Level 3 in Vanguard Contract

Explanation

The screen fades to black when exiting a level and stays on a black screen. I see the menu/shop to select upgrades for a second and then it all fades to black. The game audio is still on and I can hear it as I try to navigate. My monitor is not the issue as when I alt-tab, I can see my desktop just fine. I need to then quit the game (via steam interface). This has happened twice now, most recently with a vanguard contract, exiting level 3, headed to level 4. Let me know if you need anymore details, happy to help share more info.
