Explanation
When I try to join any modded lobby, the game hangs for a moment, then the connection is silently dropped, and I am returned to my own hub without any error message being displayed. This issue occurs regardless of whether I have any mods installed locally or not. The download phase seems to complete successfully (proven by checking the cache folder), but the unpacking/installation phase always fails. Crucial Context - When the problem started: I used to be able to play in modded lobbies without any issues. This problem started specifically after the update that moved the Modding menu from the Space Rig terminal to the main Escape Menu. Before that update, everything worked perfectly. Root Cause Analysis: For an unknown reason, the game client is ignoring my valid installation path (G:\Steam\steamapps\common\Deep Rock Galactic) and is forcing the use of the system's public user folder: C:\Users\Public\mod.io. This happens on every launch, even after completely deleting this folder. The game seemingly attempts to write to its primary installation folder, gets blocked, switches to the C:\Users\Public fallback, and then gets blocked again during the critical unpacking stage, causing the connection to fail. What I have already tried: I have exhaustively tried all common solutions, none of which have resolved the issue: Verified integrity of game files via Steam. Ran Steam as an Administrator for every test. Completely deleted the C:\Users\Public\mod.io folder multiple times (the game just recreates it). Manually unsubscribed from all mods on mod.io and cleaned the local game's mods folder. Granted "Full control" permissions to the C:\Users\Public folder for "Users" and "Everyone". Added the game executable (FSD-Win64-Shipping.exe) as an exception to Windows Security's "Controlled folder access". Reset the mod.io token in the game's settings menu. Confirmed that my game installation path is clean, short, and contains no non-English characters or OneDrive synchronization: G:\Steam\steamapps\common\Deep Rock Galactic. I am hoping you can help me with this problem, as I have run out of ideas. Thank you for your time and assistance. Rock and Stone

fixed it) The core problem was that the mod.io service was incorrectly configured to use a protected system folder (C:\Users\Public\mod.io) instead of the local game directory. The solution is to manually edit its global configuration file to point to the correct path and then lock the file to prevent it from being overwritten.
I jumped to conclusions. The problem came back again. I still can't enter the mods lobby, even if all the necessary mods are installed, I still can't enter(
