Bug: Hillbilly Chainsaw Ability Broken Post-Updates
Hillbilly Chainsaw Ability Broken Post-Updates

When rapidly clicking (instead of holding) the right mouse button to charge the Hillbilly’s chainsaw ability, the progress bar intermittently drains downward despite the button remaining fully depressed. Input registration is lost during rapid state transitions, causing the ability to become unresponsive to player input — even when the mouse button is physically held down. This behavior occurs consistently across multiple hardware configurations, game settings, and maps, and is reproducible post-update 9.5.30.

| Expected Result: |
The chainsaw charge progress bar should continuously increase while the right mouse button is held down, regardless of input speed or click pattern. The game must reliably detect and sustain input state for the ability, allowing skilled players to precisely control charge timing and release position through micro-clicks or sustained presses — without unexpected regression, input loss, or progress bar depletion during active input.

Explanation
Hey DBD Team,
I’m writing to report a game-breaking bug with the Hillbilly’s chainsaw ability that’s completely undermining skilled play.
After the March 17 (9.5.30) and March 24 (9.5.1) updates, rapid clicking the right mouse button (instead of holding) — a core technique used by top Hillbilly players to precisely control ability charge position — now causes the progress bar to drop instead of rise, even when the button is fully held down.
This isn’t occasional lag. It’s input detection loss: the game stops registering mouse presses intermittently, making the ability feel “disconnected” from your input. The result? You can’t time your release. You can’t control where the chainsaw fires.
This isn’t just inconvenient — it destroys the skill ceiling of the character. Top players rely on micro-clicks to position the charge mid-air, mid-run, or mid-escape. Now, they’re forced to hold the button down for 3+ seconds, turning a high-skill playstyle into a luck-based gamble.
I’ve tested this across 30+ Hillbilly players — all confirm the issue. We’ve ruled out:
PC specs
Game settings (windowed, borderless, fullscreen)
This is not the 2023 fullscreen input bug — we’ve tested with legacy builds and the issue persists only post-9.5.30.
I suspect this is tied to how the game handles rapid input state transitions in the ability system — possibly a race condition in the update loop or input buffer flush.
Please prioritize this. Hillbilly is one of the most mechanically deep Killers — this bug makes him feel broken.
