Steps to Reproduce

  1. Launch the game using Proton
  2. Main menu displays artifacts
  3. Playing reveals artifacts on HUD

Explanation

When launching the game using Proton (tested with 4.11), many transparent textures render with a solid white or magenta background, severely impacting visibility and gameplay.

This issue was also reported on Discord by another user with a similar setup, with both of us using NVIDIA GPUs. It occurs with both open-source and proprietary drivers, suggesting a potential issue with NVIDIA support on Linux, though this needs further confirmation.

The problem occurs with both OpenGL and Vulkan renderers, ruling out the graphics backend as the root cause.

This didn't seemingly happen in the past, which suggests that this could be caused by changing textures from pre-loaded XNB files to PNG files.

Proton logs reveal that multiple shader variables didn't initialize, which could be related too.

The game world itself is unaffected by the issue, but the HUD has many visual artifacts.
