Explanation
This report is to have an archived, direct and easy to find answer.
There is currently no way easy way, if any, to host a local/listen server for testing.
Even if you manage to open 2 instances of SFD at the same time, one hosting a lobby and the other trying to join from the server-browser, this is met with an error: "Failed to connect: Lobby doesn't exist anymore."
This is useful to test perform stuff like testing game-scripts in online compared to offline (lag, desyncs, less object-updates, etc.), wanting or needing to play in LAN and not through Steam, or other specific cases where you want a server and clients, rather than local-players.
Is this planned to be addressed (allowing multiple instances of SFD to connect to each other locally) or changed (some way to directly connect to a server, always locally/with a known and accessible IP)?
