Explanation

EU server performance has been terrible during peak hours since around the end of August or beginning of September. The game constantly freezes, players are warping and hit registration is all over the place.

I believe I can provide a pretty unique perspective on this, since I'm a very active player and I usually play 8 hours straight. There is a very distinct pattern - server performance degradation appears to correlate with the numbers of active servers and player in the region. On weekdays, performance is great at noon and terrible a few hours before and after 8 PM CET - like clockwork! It was particularly bad on the day of the Jets update when activity was high.

This begs the question, what part of the server infrastructure doesn't scale with the workload? Are game servers offloading some logic like voice moderation or achievement progression to a fixed number of servers? These are prime suspects since their introduction coincide roughly with when the problem started. I would suggest temporarily disabling one of these nonessential features to isolate the problem.

With current hardware prices it's also a real possibility that the server providers are skimping on hardware.
