Steps to Reproduce

  1. have a Valve Index
  2. grip the controller (whether grabbing something in-game or not)
  3. release your grip, your hand in-game stays gripped

Explanation

Game is unplayable on Valve Index.

Grip functionality is broken; left controller gets stuck in a closed grip, only releases occasionally. Makes it unplayable for me cause I can't reload, put my gun away, grab my gun, grab a vehicle wheel, etc. most of the time. Right controller is fine, strangely.

Turning my controller off and back on fixes it until I grip something again, sometimes flailing the controller around and pushing buttons makes it let go.

Never had an issue like this before lol

1) Is it only an issue for your left controller? (in the right controller working as intended?) 2) Can you check if you have the toggle grip option on or off. (Settings > Comfort > Toggle grip)

I put in discord but I guess it didn't show on here lol

It turned out to mostly be a hardware issue; my controller had a stuck grip and I got it un-stuck, which fixed the issue.

That said, it DOES show that the game isn't handling the index finger tracking very well. It seems to be reading any finger closed as "gripping", rather than only when you actually squeeze the controller. The game seems to be treating both conditions as the same thing, which makes it annoying at times when the controller works right, and completely unplayable with a slightly sticky controller.
