  1. play the game
  2. pay attention to enemy gunfire at mid to long range

Explanation

Visual FX of enemy gunfire (bullet trails and impacts) sometimes do not correspond to where the enemy is actually shooting.

sometimes when enemies shoot at me it visually looks like they are shooting towards the sky. this makes it very hard to tell if enemies are actually shooting at me or not. to add to this, bullet impacts and bullet trails that could've raised awareness towards the enemy are now silent and practically invisible, making it extremely hard to pinpoint where the gunfire is coming from.
