Explanation

we were on the last lever of the dive. on the level before three of us were down when the retcon triggered the elevator to the next level. As soon as the retcon left the elevator they were downed by something. They weren't allowed to recall and even though all 4 of us were down or in cocoons the mission wouldn't end
