- Start mission (down the drop pod)
Explanation
The core issue here is intense lag spikes that drop FPS to zero for several seconds at a time. These spikes happen regularly- multiple within a single minute.
A basic rundown on the environment:
- This is a Macbook Pro M2 Pro 2023 14" running CrossOver 27.
- 16gb RAM, 512gb storage, 10 cores. Game is running off an external SSD lol
- Graphics backend is D3DMetal, though the issue happens regardless of backend (DXMT, DXVK, Wine)
I have tried enabling/disabling DX12 via the graphics settings and neither option has an effect- spikes occur regardless. (I should also be filing a separate bug report for this but I'll put it here- toggling DX12 in the graphics settings does not persist through restarts. I must set -dx12 via the launch arguments for it to turn on.)
The lag spikes occur solely outside of solo mode. They also only occur once you've gone down the drop pod. This leads me to believe it may be an issue with multiplayer / networking / etc. Please find attached two recordings: one in multiplayer (even without other people in the game), and one in solo mode. Solo mode performs flawlessly- no spikes.
When DX12 is enabled, in multiplayer, spikes occur far more frequently after you've gathered your first weapons and the timer starts. With DX12 disabled, spikes occur in multiplayer at all times.
Also note that this issue does not occur in stock DRG; this is something unique to DRG Rogue Core. Additionally, the lag spikes do not occur on my Steam Deck running Proton.
Basic troubleshooting: restarting game, restarting steam, restarting computer, changing rendering backends, changing graphics api, toggling MSync, toggling DLSS, downgrading CrossOver to 26, changing in-game graphics settings. None have any effect.
