Explanation
I ventured into the depths for the 394,582nd time today, hoping—no, praying—for Vow of Iron to drop, b-but it didn’t… again… blushes aggressively while staring into the void N-not like I wanted it th-that bad or anything… I mean… I only cried a little… okay maybe like… a medium amount…
Meanwhile Archmage and Akkamono are over there, having the most painfully romantic tsundere showdown in the history of ever.
Archmage sees Akkamono and literally CHOKES on his own spell dust, going, “W-WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE YOU… YOU… YOU ABSOLUTE DUMMYHEAD!!!” blushes so hard the void starts glowing pink
Akkamono flips his hair all dramatic-like and goes, “Oh? Did you miss me again, sweetie?” with that smirk that screams “I-read-wattpad-fanfic-before-breakfast.”
Archmage combusts on the spot, arms flailing like a malfunctioning Roomba, shrieking, “D-D-DON’T CALL ME SWEETIE, B-B-B-B-B-B-B-B-B-BAKA!!! IT’S NOT LIKE I CARE ABOUT YOU OR ANYTHING!!!” blushes, trips, casts a spell backward, and explodes himself
Akkamono catches him bridal-style because of course he does, leans in 0.0002 inches from his face, and whispers, “You’re cute when you're flustered.”
Archmage emits a noise not found in nature, kicks his legs, and yells, “PUT ME DOWN YOU—YOU—S**— S**—ROMANTIC—WORM!!!” while turning so red he looks like a corrupted tomato.
And as I watch this absolute cringe romance anime unfold, I realize why Vow of Iron never drops:
The loot gods took one look at this mess and said, “Yeah. Nah. They’ve suffered enough.”
N-not that I watch them or anything… I-I’m not invested… I SWEAR… blushes into oblivion

Chapter 5 — Hearts Don’t Whisper Forever
Night wrapped the tower in quiet. Akkamono tried to storm back inside, but the archmage’s voice—soft for once—stopped him.
“Akkamono… let me show you something.”
He raised his hand. A small golden light appeared—warm, steady, beating like a heart.
His heart.
Akkamono froze. “Y-you’re not supposed to show that to anyone…”
“I know,” the archmage said. “That’s why I’m showing you.”
The light drifted closer, pulsing stronger. Akkamono swallowed hard.
“…Why me?”
The archmage stepped closer, no teasing this time. “Because you make everything feel alive.”
Akkamono’s breath hitched. “You… talk too much…”
“Then touch it,” the archmage whispered, “and you’ll hear the truth.”
Hands shaking, Akkamono reached out and brushed the glowing heartbeat.
It flared—warm and startling.
Akkamono’s face went red. “…i**** mage,” he murmured, barely audible, “I’m starting to believe you.”
The archmage smiled like he’d waited ages to hear that.
