Steps to Reproduce

  1. Run a department and create a save.
  2. Leave enough real-world time for catch-up to be required.
  3. Reload the game.
  4. Observe the "Preparing..." catch-up screen.
  5. The catch-up process begins, but the progress bar and ETA are missing.

Explanation

The catch-up/loading screen no longer displays the progress bar or estimated time remaining that was previously added for long catch-up periods.

The screen still appears correctly and shows:

"Preparing..."
"Loading A&E Live Simulator..."
"Catching up on the real time that has passed since you were last here."

However, the catch-up progress bar and ETA/progress information are completely missing.

This appears to be a regression, as these were previously implemented to give players feedback while the simulator processes elapsed real-world time.

Expected behaviour:

  • Catch-up screen appears when required
  • Progress bar is visible
  • Progress updates as catch-up advances
  • ETA/time remaining is displayed
  • Loading text updates appropriately
  • Player can tell that the simulator is actively progressing rather than potentially frozen

Actual behaviour:

  • Catch-up screen appears
  • Spinner remains visible
  • Status remains on "Preparing..."
  • No progress bar is shown
  • No ETA is shown
  • There is no indication of how far through catch-up the simulator is

This is particularly noticeable after being away from a busy department for a longer period, where catch-up can take enough time that the game may appear stuck even though it is still processing.

The progress bar and ETA were originally introduced specifically to address this problem, so they should remain visible during the sliced catch-up process.
