Explanation
I am having an issue where the pencil deducts lives intermittently. Sometimes the pencil tool works as intended but very often it will deduct lives even when you are in note taking mode. Sometimes toggling the switch on and off will fix it but because the sound is the note taking sound and the number is the normal note tiny number, it is impossible to know when the issue is occurring until you lose a life. Sometimes lives will go from 4 to 0 or 2 to 0 when this glitch occurs.
Video recording provided. I am willing to provide logging information if needed for further review.

Device: MacBook on macOS 15.5. Issue is also happening for my friend who is also on macOS based system. Both playing via discord client.

That is a known issue, but the fix didn't work yet. It only occurs when using the keyboard, and I believe when selecting a cell that has already been filled. We'll fix it in a future update!

Hello, I'd also like to provide some additional information on the described issue.
First occurrence I first noticed it in daily use 2025-08-22 6:22 pm UTC. I didn't notice it all all the day before and almost every time I tried it afterwards. This seems to be just after "Patch Notes Version 1.3.2" was released, going by the announcement time in 📢│announcements.
Behaviour It seems to occur after the arrow keys were used to move. Even annotating the correct number into a cell can cause the loss of lives. Erasing a number may also result in live penalty.
Workaround Clicking cells one by one to make pencil notes was working pretty reliably for me without the bug occurring.
