Degraded Audio Reverb in Open/Outdoor Areas Post Patch 7.4.0

Status: Open
Priority:

Due date:
Reported for:
Actual Result:
Distant screams and sounds sound flat and "dry" with very weak reverb. It lacks the spatial depth and environmental echo that existed before patch 7.4.0.
Expected Result:
The screams should have a more distinct outdoor reverb tail and atmospheric decay, sounding naturally more distant.
Severity:
Major
Reproducibility:
Always
Platform:
Steam
Additional Notes & Comments:
as shown in the videos there is still a bit reverb effect going on with the distant sounds but its so weak and barely noticable. The first video shows the proper way it should be.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Load into a match on a map with large open areas
  2. stay within a long distance from a Survivor who is about to be hooked or downed.
  3. Listen carefully to the scream audio when the Survivor is hooked.
  4. this will most probably only occur on outdoor maps exluding nostromo and ormond lake mine and some parts of toba landing

Explanation

Since Patch 7.4.0, the global audio reverb for open/outdoor areas excluding ormond lake mine and nostromo maps (these maps have the proper reverb zone filters) has been degraded. This is not to say it is completely gone or broken but it is less tense than it was before. Even tho I have noticed slight tweaks in recent updates, the audio quality is still insufficient compared to the pre-7.4.0 era. Distant sounds in open fields still sound too "dry" and lack the proper atmospheric decay/tail. The reverb decay time has decreased from approx. 2 seconds to roughly 0.5 seconds
