Steps to Reproduce
- Play as The Spirit in a match (killer first-person perspective).
- Hold M2 (Phase Walk) to activate her power — notice that the phase-in animation plays correctly.
- Stay in Phase Walk for a moment.
- Release M2 to exit Phase Walk.
- Observe that, instead of the unique phase-out animation, her hands instantly snap back to the default walking pose.
- There are no transitional animation frames between the phased and unphased states.
Explanation
Since Patch 7.1.0 (July 25th, 2023), Spirit’s unique first-person animation when exiting Phase Walk (right after releasing M2) has been missing. Previously, her hands had a distorted, glitchy movement as she reappeared (see first video clip), which really sold the whole spectral vibe. Now, the transition feels completely static—her hands just freeze in place, making the ability look less immersive and a bit unpolished (see second video).
This change was never mentioned in any patch notes, so it’s unclear whether it was intentional or if it got lost somewhere during updates. The animation was originally introduced in Patch 6.7.1 (May 3rd, 2023), then quietly disappeared a few months later without any explanation.
As of the current patch (9.6.0), the issue is still present. After nearly two years, the static transition remains, and Spirit’s power still feels less visually dynamic because of it.
If this was intentional, I’d really suggest reconsidering it—the old animation added a lot of personality and immersion. If it’s a bug, it would be great to see it restored.
