| Actual Result: |
Player recieves ban and has to queue again
|
| Expected Result: |
No ban for random connection issues, no assumption of deliberate player action, jump back to front of matchmaking queue, account stats not affected
|
| Severity: |
Minor
|
| Reproducibility: |
Sometimes
|
| Platform: |
Xbox Series S|X
|
| Additional Notes & Comments: |
Misattributing unknown connection issues to malign player intention risks masking actual causes, not to mention the poor user experience of being penalized for an error beyond control. If it is difficult to determine deliberate disconnection from incidental, then that's an appreciable technical challenge, but not one to be off-loaded to the end-user with blanket-suspicion.

Steps to Reproduce
- Navigate to pre-game loading screen normally
- Simulate range of connection issues
- Observe result on return to main menu
Explanation
Occured on October 15th 2026. My account recieved a ban 'for leaving game' due to the game not connecting after the matchmaking lobby.
I am playing on Xbox Series X. I have stable Fibre internet (avg: 130 mbs download / 30 mbs upload).
I 'readied' for the lobby as normal, (playing 'killer' role) loading screen appears, takes too long, stayed in the app, did not adjust connection, eventually get a disconnect screen (no code e.g. 500), when I am returned to the main menu I have received a ban for leaving the game.
I have noticed more frequent (<10 over 6 hrs playtime) disconnects of this type since after the 'Haunted by Daylight' patch (not update) 14th October 2026.
