Game Fails to Properly Close When Exiting to Desktop

Steps to Reproduce

1. load DRG:RC experimental branch on steam
2. exit to desktop through the in-game menu
3. the game will visually close but steam will show as 'running'
4. hit `stop` to force close the program but nothing happens and the game is still shown as 'running'
5. fully exit out of steam, this will take a moment as steam wont want to close with a program running but eventually the option to 'exit anyway' opens allowing you to close steam and, by proxy, DRG:RC

Explanation

the game doesnt fully close when you hit the Exit to Desktop button.

waiting on the steam library for the game to close was taking a long time so I hit the Stop button to force close the game through steam, this also did nothing other than forcing the button to be greyed out whilst steam tried to terminate the process which lead to me finally fully exiting steam to terminate all steam processes to finally get the game itself to close. (tested three times, same results)
