Steps to Reproduce

  1. Got corrosive sludge pump from heavy crate
  2. Used a charged shot
  3. Immediately opened workbench and upgraded the pump
  4. Normal shots then took 5 ammo for the rest of the run

Explanation

Upgrading the corrosive sludge pump at a workbench makes it's normal shot cost as much as a charged shot, forever.
