| Additional Notes & Comments: |
Directional audio has steadily been getting worse since the unreal engine upgrade ~1 year ago. Audio drastically changes from patch to patch, making it really hard to get used to a standard of quality that you can use to track survivor movements.
|
Steps to Reproduce
- Play as the Spirit
- Try to track survivors through audio
- Notice inaccuracies and inconsistencies
- Fail to track survivors accurately as a result
Explanation
Directional audio when playing killer has become inconsistent since the engine update. This is most noticeable when playing the Spirit. Sometimes, sounds like breathing and footsteps will play with no directionality or incorrect direction. When a survivor runs through your hitbox, it will sound as if they are still running in front of you for a long time until sounding correctly behind you, by which point they are able to get much further than if the sound had played correctly. Other times, you will hear breathing and footsteps with no sense of direction. Sounds will also often sound closer or further than they should, giving the killer incorrect audio cues. This is disorienting and makes the Spirit significantly harder and more frustrating to play.
